When I e-mailed the Judge’s Instructions to Andy, I received the following reply:

I am currently away from my email until May 18th on honeymoon with NO access whilst away. I will reply to your message as soon as I return. Many thanks. Andy Rouse

Best of luck to Andy and his spouse. I am hoping that Andy will be able to re-up for next year’s contest. National Geographic Photographer Tim Laman has graciously agreed to fill in for Andy.

Andy Rouse is an inspirational wildlife photographer known the world over. A unique and charismatic figure he is famed for his ability to capture moments from the lives of animals and birds in the wild from a different view point and often from his trade-mark stance, that of being “up close and personal” to some of the most fascinating and often potentially dangerous animals. Over recent years, Andy’s photographic style has been developing to be all encompassing of the animals and their environment in order to augment his passion for telling a story and to highlight the beauty of the natural world. Andy’s images have been acknowledged as being some of the best in the world for many years. He has won 9 awards in the past 7 years in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition and is the current holder of the Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Species.

Andy has now published 15 books covering species, ecosystems and photographic techniques. Tigers: a Celebration of Life has donated 25% of its profits to tiger conservation, so far raising over £8000 and making him an honorary Ambassador for 21st Century Tiger. His latest book, Gorillas: Living on the Edge similarly raises money for the endangered mountain gorilla. Andy’s stylish images are used by clients across the globe and appear in magazines, brochures, billboards and on a range of cool animal t-shirts. With a heritage from the heart of London, Andy is naturally an extrovert and an accomplished entertainer. His shows are legendary and he continues to wow his audiences around the world from the UK to France, Germany, New Zealand, and the USA. His style of irreverent humour, slick presentation style, high energy musical presentations, stunning images and his commitment to conservation has led to his talks being much in demand. His 10th anniversary tour, a mixture of tall stories, incredible pictures, toe tapping music and videos from around the world played to over 2500 people. He has presented several times at the Royal Geographical Society in London.
